a funeral ought to have an element of appreciation, and a hint of, if i dare say, celebration. of course, all these provided if the person has walked the whole journey and passed on naturally. this past week i was at my grandfather's wake and funeral in yong peng, johor. even though it was a buddhist funeral, and that in itself provided various meddlesome problems for myself and my mum. nevertheless, the days went by. i'm glad the last night wasn't filled with all sadness, but also lightheartedness. well, my granddad lived to 89, so it's probably worth feeling good about then. the more than occasional laughter could well be expected i suppose. that's how a funeral should be, i think.
